Lunar Logic grew out of the solo consulting business I had been operating since the 80s. Our focus was educational software from the late 90s through the mid 2000s. In 2006 we began to broaden our focus to cover more areas of web application development. We're located in Eugene, Oregon, where one can walk to work while thinking about code and nature at the same time. We're all hardworking, creative types with high standards for service and efficiency. On top of that, and most importantly for all involved, we enjoy what we do. We hope that you will allow us to pull you into the vortex of our creative and productive little world.
Where We've Been
We have worked on some rather large (>$1M) projects. We built and maintained a huge course management system (CMS) for an educational publisher and built hundreds of individual products to run within that system. We didn't just write the software, we also tested, documented and supported it. We continue to assist with that system to this day.
Where We Are
We have become rather fond of agile methodologies and frameworks and have taken a liking to small and medium sized projects, as they allow us to indulge our eclectic natures. We love JavaScript, AJAX and all of those so called Web 2.0 technologies. There is no greater joy (at work) than showing off a brand new, under-budget, on time system to a customer, in addition to being able to show them much more than they ever thought would be possible.
Where We're Going
Business Software - We have enjoyed developing many of our own operational tools over the years. When it makes sense, we do buy 'off the shelf' products but it often makes more sense to build custom applications, especially since we can. If you haven't ever had the experience of having custom software that matches your business processes you should really try it. Being able to ask the developer to add a report and then to be able to see the immediate results of your idea is quite amazing; especially when you are the programmer who rendered it.
We started extending our efforts out beyond our own walls and made some of our tools available for public use. Building internal tools for other businesses has become one of our established areas of work.
Working for Other Software Companies - We have found that we work quite well with other software companies. We start shop talking, and we realize we're from the same planet. It's a very warm, fuzzy feeling. We work for smaller companies who can't staff up quickly enough, and we work for larger companies who appreciate our responsiveness and agility. We also provide specialized talent when other companies lack it.
Partnering with Marketing & Design Firms - It is great working with people who know what colors, fonts and copy they want. Such projects let us focus on our favorite part of the project -- the functionality. We provide the left brained talent to complement their right brained talent. It's a perfect match.
